Okay, so remember when I wrote that I had shot a story about a local professional wrestler? Well, here we are a few months later and the story finally aired. Things I’ve Done Lately

The last few weeks I’ve gotten to attend a few cool things for work. A few weeks ago I got to talking with one of the reporters about his partner’s cousin, who happens to be a professional wrestler. She goes by the wrestling name ODB. It’s sort of a white-trash gimmick, complete with flask! She was going to be wrestling at First Ave and we thought it would make for a great “local girl done good” kinda story. Unfortunately, the good folks in charge didn’t really want to give up Maury for a night to go shoot it and put it together, so I went to First Ave and shot her match and some interviews. I even put a mic on her mom while ODB wrestled. Her mom might truly be the “original ODB”! It was a complete blast! I think it’ll make for a great story whenever we get a chance to put it together. Hopefully that will happen sometime in the next month. Then, this past weekend I shot the Barack Obama rally at the Target Center. Personally, I hope he gets the nomination. But either way, it was pretty friggin’ insane to see 20,000 people show up for a political speech. I have a feeling people are gonna be pretty burned out on politics by the time we get to November. Tomorrow, I cover the republican caucus in Bloomington. I think it might see a slightly more sparse attendance.

MSP Airport Wi-Fi

JoCo in Minneapolis

So, I forced Holly to go with me to see/hear the musical stylings of Mr. Jonathan Coulton at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis a few weeks ago. For those of you unfamiliar with the JoCo, he created a lot of excitement about his work with a year-long blog called “Thing a Week,” where he posted a newly crafted song every week. He’s a bit of a geek, so if you think you might like a song called, “Code Monkey,” give him a listen.

Anywho, the concert was great, with an opening band (Paul and Storm) who had a song called “Opening Band.” Rock on! I highly recommend checking out the JonathanCoulton.com. Here are a few more songs that I love:

Well, now that I know that posting from the iPhone works flawlessly, perhaps I’ll be posting more often. I spent most of the week lying on my back, after pulling a muscle in my lower back on Tuesday whilst lifting at the Y. Note to self: you are not as strong as you think you are!

Sad State of Afairs At the State Theatre

Holly and I went to see Ryan Adams and the Cardinals last night at the State Theatre. Both of us were quite excited. It was Holly’s first time seeing Mr. Adams and it was my first time seeing Holly see him. I saw Adams a few years ago in Columbia, MO. That show was his first show back post-breaking his wrist after falling off stage some months before. It was a pretty rockin’ show, but there were the moments of RA earning his rep as a bit of a brat. Songs would start and stop and start again due to his frustrations, but it was a rollicking show and I had a pretty good time.
